With rising gas prices, we are turning to vacation spots closer to home. Surprisingly, one needs only to look to neighboring Lake Conroe to find just the place for families, golfers and romantics, alike – La Torretta Lake Resort & Spa.
We recently enjoyed the luxurious amenities at La Torretta, which is situated directly on the shores of Lake Conroe with fabulous views of shimmering waters. We found the amenities offered here will most certainly soothe, relax and stimulate the mind, body and spirit, which is the goal of this resort.
We chose to take part in a La Torretta Wine and Food Lifestyle Weekend, which was so delightful that we plan to return soon. We were treated to a tour of two local wineries: Cork This! and Bernhardt Wineries, as part of our stay. Of course we brought home our favorites after sampling the wide varietals and unique blends. Jerry and Jerri Bernhardt are the owners of Bernhardt Winery, which sits atop a beautiful hill with scenic view and offers a Tuscan-style tasting experience. Cork This! Winery invites you to create your own labels for that special, personal touch as gifts and for celebrations. Both wineries are a part of The Bluebonnet Wine Trail, which includes wineries that dot the countryside northwest of Houston.
The most exciting part of this lifestyle weekend was being guests in executive Chef Matthew Gray’s kitchen at Chez Roux, where we received private French cooking lessons from the chef and saw how he worked with his team. The three-course dinner that followed was indescribably delicious. Gray is currently the only chef in Texas who has earned the Michelin Star for his achievements. This was an evening my husband and I will always remember as one of those special events we would love to repeat.
This resort actually has eight restaurants, grills, bars and lounges. They are Chez Roux, Prime Restaurant, Yoi Sushi Bar, CoCo Cove, Mokka Café, Final Putt, Energie Sports Bar and Sonata Piano Lounge. We spent a rela evening absorbing the entertainment wafting from the Sonata Piano Lounge as we enjoyed our meal at Yoi Sushi Bar.
In addition, we toured the exceptional facility offered at La Torretta for business conferences, which includes an All-Inclusive Complete Meeting Package, not to mention their private party boat with 150 capacity that will cater to your group as you tour the lake.
The resort boasts its own marina and boat launch facility for water sports enthusiasts – boating, fishing, personal water crafts, water skiing, tubing and kayaking.
From our suite, we could see panoramic views of the lake, the marina and the 3.5 acre Aqua Park, which has amazing features that will thrill every kid and kid-at-heart adult. The Aqua Park amenities include a Jacuzzi, heated infinity pool, Mediterranean pool, Breeze Buster Pool with the Breeze Buster Water Slide, and the Splash Scape Pool. Kids are sure to enjoy the Pollywogs Pool and the more adventurous will want to explore the Lay-Z River Rapids. Everyone can wind down at the private Bora Bora Beach.
A few rounds of miniature golf, which is lighted at night for extended fun, is another way to play at the resort. Also on site are tennis courts and supervised Kids Camp, Teen Lounge and a 24-hour fitness center featuring yoga, Pilates and spin studios.
At the La Torretta golf course, “Perfection is par for the course.” This course was completely redesigned by Jeffrey D. Blume Limited in 2007. Golfers will want to sit back and relax with casual fare at the Final Putt restaurant after a round or two.
Spa Terre is perfect for a day of relaxation. This spa has unparallel features for every preference and luxury: massage therapies; grooming and glamour; global rituals; body indulgence; facial care and complete healthy skin treatment; body treatments and shaping plus life enhancements and wellness. I found the staff to be extremely friendly and professional.
Whether planning a weekend getaway or an extended lake vacation, La Torretta is sure to make your stay unforgettable. We’ll see you there!
