Austin-based Torchy’s had barely opened to raving crowds when Hurricane Harvey sent nearly 8 feet of water into the restaurant in August. Months later, Torchy’s opened in time for Christmas shoppers, who quickly swarmed the popular eatery. Torchy’s offers fresh, and we mean fresh, tacos, queso, salads and some pretty darn wonderful margaritas! Sample from a creative array including the Fried Avocado taco, hand battered and topped with pico de gallo and grated cheese, and the Baja Shrimp taco with hand-battered fried shrimp topped with delicious cooked cabbage slaw and cotijo cheese. Dine in and see the red line marking the floodwaters or call in for take out.
Cost: $3.50-$5 per taco, depending on add-ons.
