Welcome back to Out and About … where you can find out what’s happening in our community! Luck was a lady at the Keller Williams Viva Las Vegas gala held at the Airport Marriott Hotel. Gala chairs Diana Hefner and Leticia Whipple outdid themselves with a rock and roll-filled silent auction featuring such sought-after items as an autographed poster by the Jonas Brothers and a signed guitar by Led Zeppelin. Guests threw the dice, played Blackjack, and enjoyed a great evening of music and fun while raising funds for Including Kids, an agency that provides programs and services for children with autism. Faces in the crowd: Mark and Star Heinrich; Michael and Laura Clapp; Judy Hopkins; Donna Duhon; Jennifer Dantzler; Theresa Johnston; Lisa Dempsey; Sparky Nolan and fiancé Mary Knapp; Phil Lively and Sharon Lewis; Dan and Janet Huberty, Larry and Cynthia Shiflet; Aggie Green; Marc and Anne McIlhany. The rainy day start for Kingwood Women’s Club Holiday Market didn’t dampen the spirits of those who love shopping for a great cause, in this case, several of them. The Monday night Preview Party proceeds will benefit Project Mammogram, and Northeast Hospital Foundation gifted each attendee that evening with a pink ribbon pin. Tuesday’s proceeds will benefit many other local organizations. Faces in the crowd on Preview Night included Diane Trautman, Sue Pilko, Tina Denoville, Nancy Reed, Susan English, Lynda Watt, Dr. Susan Curling, Leigh Marcus, and Candy Varty, who just happened to have a picture of her new grandbaby! It was the second annual Halloween bash hosted by Cheryl (CJ) Johnson, and everyone from Ricky and Lucy (Robert and Jayme Scarfo) to Prisoners of Love (Danny and Geralyn Sullivan) to the devilishly beautiful Gwendolyn Condeleo Crawford agreed it’s now a tradition! Winning the contest for Scariest was Richard Foisner/Wolfman, while wife Nancy/Devil Woman, won Most Creative for her costume and make up. Sexiest woman was, of course, Holly Oberst as Cat Woman, with a three way tie for sexiest man: Dennis Pfeiffer/Sugar Daddy; Mark Linabury/Dr. Evil, and Paul Krieger/Mephistopheles. Dick Parnell won Funniest as the Tooth Fairy. The winning couple costumes were “cats” (from the play of the same name) Paul and Denise Krieger. (Denise celebrated her “29th” birthday the day before with Kingwood Chamber Friends at J. Christopher’s.) There was wonderful food catered by pirates Daniel and Cherrie Ledoux of A Grand Affair. Some Kingwood Area Republican Women’s Club members recently attended a WIN (Women Impacting the Nation) luncheon at the Junior League in Houston where former Bush White House Press Secretary Dana Perino was the guest speaker. Representing KARW were Mary Blanchard, June Brenan, Halene Crossman, Karen Dunne, Marlene Frazier, Nancy Fulton, Skippy Lupton, Sandra Martinez, Betty Newton, Glenda Piacenti, and Anne Schuelke.  The prestigious and beautiful group was photographed for the next issue of “Focus on Women” magazine. The 21st Season of Kingwood Musical Arts Society kicked off with a winning performance by the Kingwood Big Band and featured vocalist Julie Johnson. They brought down the packed house at Lone Star College-Kingwood with such favorites as “Mack the Knife” and “I Will Survive.” Faces in the crowd included: Todd Miller; Beth Higgins; Andy and Katherine Persson; Bill and Deb Coppola; Bill and Robin Garrett; Robert and Susan Lunson; Eddie and Linda Stegall; Dave and Emily Marshall; Kathy Spirakes; Lisa Goodwin. Visit KingwoodMusicalArts.org for schedule information. Kudos to Chamber President Andy Dill and to Pat Chandler and her awesome team of volunteers who made this year’s Community Chamber of EMC Golf Tournament a huge success! The players started the day at Oakhurst Golf Club with lunch catered by Texas Road House, putting contest, and shotgun start; finishing it with a Ladies’ Mixer, auction, prizes, and a fabulous steak and lobster dinner. Lone Star Livestock Equipment team was the winning foursome: Warren Bodenhamer, Brandon Bodenhamer, Todd Petroka and Jimmy Spurlock. Second place went to the Wal-Mart Distribution Center #7010 team: Robert Garcia, Rob Lindsey, Mike Lawson and Boyd Cochran. Congratulations to all players and volunteers! Houston Bank hosted an open house in their new Kingwood location. Friends and neighbors dropped in to extend their well wishes to Executive Vice President Tim Baker and his crew, including: Mike Byers; Andy Dill; Earl Garrison; David Brewer; Mark and Danielle Schaaf; Dr. Tom Clegg; Dr. Scott Stanislaw; Dave and Caroline Smith; Skip Curry; Alan Derby.
